What is revolutionary about the GISconnector for Excel?

The GISconnector for Excel consists of a program, an Add-In (toolbar) for ArcGIS Desktop and an Add-In (tab) for Microsoft Excel. The two Add-Ins in ArcGIS and in Excel communicate with each other by means of the program and thereby combine ArcGIS and Excel into one ingenious overall system. The power of Excel becomes available in ArcGIS and vice versa.

Bidirectional link between Feature Classes and Excel tables with data synchronization
 
  • Create a connection to Excel data either by exporting your ArcGIS data to Excel or establish a connection between an ArcGIS dataset and existing Excel data.
  • Synchronize data modifications between Excel tables and ArcGIS attribute tables without an edit session or locks on your Excel file.
  • Save the data connection with settings: tell the GISconnector exactly which columns are to be transferred from ArcGIS to Excel or from Excel to ArcGIS, and which are not.
  • If you create new columns in Excel, you can transfer these changes to ArcGIS; this also works the other way round, of course.
  • When you transfer data from ArcGIS to Excel, the GISconnector for Excel does not overwrite your Excel formulas, thereby ensuring that your spreadsheet always remains fully dynamic.
     
Create new features in ArcGIS and add related data in Excel
 
  • During an edit session of newly created features you can transfer your data to Excel and add related data.
  • Transfer your edits in Excel to ArcGIS either during your edit session or afterwards.
  • If one of your Excel columns contains a formula and you have transferred new features from ArcGIs to Excel, GISconnector for Excel copies the formula automatically from above for your new features. In this way you do not have to copy the formula manually.
